We are hearing about shortages of silver coins in the US.
Perhaps the following information may be of interest to some who wish to buy silver ounces:
Americans who live close to the Mexican border may purchase all the silver “Libertad” one-ounce coins they wish, for cash and immediate delivery, at any branch of Banco Azteca in any of the border towns on the Mexican side of the border. No need to have an account at Banco Azteca.
Today’s (April 24, 2013) price for the Mexican one-ounce pure silver “Libertad” coin is $347 pesos, as quoted on our website, www.plata.com.mx. At the current exchange rate of $12.23 pesos (kitco.com) for each dollar, the price in dollars translates to $28.37 Dollars per coin.
We know that the Mexican “Libertad” silver ounce is rarely, if ever, mentioned as a coin that Americans might wish to purchase; the reason for this circumstance may be attributed to the high cost of shipping these coins to American dealers.
The branches of Banco Azteca throughout Mexico all have – or are supposed to have – stocks of silver coins for immediate delivery. These stocks are necessarily small, but large orders can be filled within a couple of days at all branches.
Notes: The re-purchase prices of these coins are also posted on the plata.com.mx website, but please bear in mind that Banco Azteca may be forced to offer lower re-purchase prices for large amounts tendered to it.
Also, please note that how Americans introduce purchased coins into the US is not the affair of Banco Azteca and that Banco Azteca will not ship “Libertad” ounces to any US address due to the high costs involved.
